Steelworker Retirees Benefits cut off

Detroit, Mich.—When steelworkers ratified a labor agreement covering the workers in the newly combined operations of US Steel and National Steel last May, they felt good about it. They didn’t expect to see their worst nightmares become reality. via LabourStart

Solidarity Call

Workers at a garment factory in Mexico, just over the border from the United States, who are producing goods for such companies as Levis and Tommy Hillfiger, recently attempted to form an independent trade union and negotiate with their employer. The employer reacted by sacking five of the union's leaders, then fifty more, and now threatens to lay off thousands. They are asking for our help. Please send off a protest message and consider making a financial contribution as well via LabourStart

Bold New Labor Movement Approaching

The macho image of organized labor is being transformed from within, as unions adopt feminist strategies, link labor with community issues, and work to establish connections across national borders. Unions are changing and one scholar-activist sees reasons for optimism on Labor Day 2003. via LabourNewsNetwork - By Dan Clawson

Much fun and community spirit. It was lovely to have the whole area off the grid for the time.

Ick, do I have to give a space before I write so there isn't this smashing effect?

Also, besides comments, I would like an RSS feed.
